Losartas 50 mg contains losartan which is used in the treatment of high blood pressure. Decreasing high blood pressure lowers the risk of heart attack and stroke. Losartas 50 mg tablet is an angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB). It works by blocking the hormone angiotensin thereby relaxing blood vessels, allowing the blood to flow more smoothly and the heart to pump more efficiently.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Losartas 50 mg tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
Taking Losartan with alcohol may excessively lower the blood pressure.Losartas is unsafe to use during pregnancy but may be used during breast feeding. Losartas 50 mg tablet is safe to use in patients with kidney disease. No dose adjustment of Losartas 50 mg tablet is recommended. However it is to be used with caution in patients with liver disease and dose adjustment maybe required.Always consult with your doctor before taking this medication.
