Overview
Losartas-HTZ combines losartan (an angiotensin receptor blocker) with hydrochlorothiazide, a water tablet (diuretic), in one daily tablet for high blood pressure (hypertension). Losartan relaxes and widens blood vessels while the diuretic removes excess fluid, together lowering blood pressure more effectively than one medicine alone. Good control helps protect against stroke, heart attack and kidney damage. Supplied as a 30-tablet pack for daily use.
Active ingredients: Losartan potassium 50mg, Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5mg per tablet.
Directions for Use
This medicine requires a prescription. Use only as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. Take one tablet once daily, with or without food, ideally in the morning so increased urination does not disturb sleep. Swallow whole with water at the same time each day. Keep taking it even when you feel well. Do not stop without advice.
Not for use in pregnancy or breastfeeding, or in severe kidney or liver disease. Tell your doctor if you have gout, diabetes or low potassium. May cause dizziness, especially when standing. Rise slowly. Avoid potassium supplements and salt substitutes unless advised. Your doctor may check kidney function and electrolytes. Store below 30°C.
