Overview

Metrogyl Denta Gel (20g) is a dental gel combining the antibacterial metronidazole with the antiseptic chlorhexidine, applied directly to the gums. It is used to treat and help prevent gum infections and inflammation such as gingivitis and periodontitis, mouth ulcers and other oral infections. Metronidazole clears the bacteria that thrive in inflamed gum pockets while chlorhexidine keeps the area clean, together reducing soreness, bleeding and swelling of the gums. A targeted, easy-to-apply option helping people care for painful, inflamed gums alongside good oral hygiene.

Actives: Metronidazole benzoate (equivalent to metronidazole ~10mg/g) and Chlorhexidine gluconate (~0.25%/g). Confirm exact strengths on packaging.

Directions for Use

Apply as directed by your dentist or the label. Usually a small amount of gel massaged gently onto the affected gums with a clean fingertip, typically twice daily after brushing. Avoid eating, drinking or rinsing for about 30 minutes afterwards so the gel can work. Use for the period advised; see your dentist if gum problems persist, as they may need professional cleaning or treatment.

For use in the mouth on the gums only. Avoid swallowing large amounts. Chlorhexidine can temporarily stain the teeth and tongue and alter taste with prolonged use. Do not use with a known allergy to metronidazole or chlorhexidine. Avoid alcohol during and shortly after a course of metronidazole-containing products. Persistent gum disease needs a dentist's assessment. Use in pregnancy or breastfeeding only on advice. Store below 25°C.
