Overview
The OraQuick HIV Self-Test lets you check your own HIV status in private, using a mouth (oral fluid) swab rather than a blood sample. Designed for use at home, it gives a result in about 20 minutes, making HIV testing convenient, discreet and accessible. Regular testing is a normal and responsible part of looking after your health. A self-test is a screening test: a reactive (positive) result should always be confirmed by a healthcare provider, and the kit supports people who want to know their status on their own terms.

Directions for Use
Follow the instructions in the kit carefully. In brief: swab the upper and lower gums as directed, place the test stick in the supplied tube, and wait the stated time (about 20 minutes) before reading the result. Do not eat, drink or use oral care products just before testing. Read the result within the time window stated on the instructions. Use the kit at room temperature and check the expiry date before testing.
A self-test is for screening only and does not give a final diagnosis. A non-reactive (negative) result may not detect a very recent infection (the "window period"). Repeat testing later if you may have been exposed. A reactive (positive) result must be confirmed with a healthcare provider.
