Mesacol 400mg Tablets (50 pack) contain mesalazine (mesalamine), a gut-targeted anti-inflammatory from Sun Pharma for ulcerative colitis and other inflammatory bowel disease. The delayed-release coating carries the medicine to the colon, where it calms the inflamed bowel lining. Easing diarrhoea, bleeding and urgency, and maintaining remission to prevent painful flare-ups. Unlike steroids, mesalazine is suitable for long-term maintenance, making Mesacol a mainstay for people living with colitis under specialist care.

Directions for Use

This is a prescription medicine. Take only as directed by your gastroenterologist. Doses vary by flare or maintenance phase, commonly 800mg three times daily during flares and lower for maintenance. Swallow tablets whole with water; do not crush or chew the coated tablets. Take consistently, even when well. Maintenance prevents relapse. Attend regular kidney function monitoring.

Do not use with salicylate (aspirin) allergy or severe kidney or liver impairment. Report unexplained bruising, sore throat, fever or bleeding (rare blood effects), and worsening abdominal pain or bloody diarrhoea (rare intolerance syndrome). Kidney function should be checked periodically. Tablets passed whole in stool should be reported. Generally continued in pregnancy on specialist advice. Drink adequate fluids. Store below 30°C.
