Overview

Movicol Adult Sachets (13.8g, 30 pack) is an osmotic laxative used to relieve constipation and to treat faecal impaction (hardened stool) in adults. Each sachet contains macrogol (polyethylene glycol) with balanced electrolytes; when dissolved in water and drunk, it draws water into the bowel to soften the stool and make it easier and more comfortable to pass, without harsh stimulation. It is gentle enough for regular use when needed under guidance. A reliable, doctor- and pharmacist-recommended option helping people manage constipation. Confirm the composition on the pack.

Actives per sachet: Macrogol 3350 (polyethylene glycol) 13.125g with sodium chloride, sodium bicarbonate and potassium chloride. Confirm on the pack.

Directions for Use

Dissolve the contents of one sachet in about half a glass (125ml) of water, stir until clear, and drink. For ordinary constipation, the usual dose is 1-3 sachets a day as directed; for clearing impacted stool, higher doses over a few days may be advised by your doctor. Follow the label or your doctor's instructions. Drink plenty of fluids through the day. Use for the shortest time needed.

Not suitable if you have a bowel blockage or certain serious bowel conditions. Tell your doctor about severe abdominal pain, swelling or vomiting. Use with care if you have heart or kidney problems, as it contains electrolytes. Stop and seek advice if you have ongoing diarrhoea, signs of dehydration, or if constipation does not improve. Use in pregnancy on advice. Store below 25°C; use the made-up solution within the time stated or refrigerate as directed.
