Ranexa 500mg Tablets (60 pack) contain ranolazine, a medicine for chronic stable angina (recurring chest pain from coronary heart disease). Ranolazine works differently from usual angina medicines. It improves the heart muscle's energy use and blood flow without mainly relying on lowering heart rate or blood pressure, so it is used as an add-on when standard angina treatments do not give enough relief or are not fully tolerated. By reducing the frequency of angina attacks, it helps people stay more active. A specialist- or doctor-prescribed option helping people with persistent angina manage their symptoms.

Directions for Use

This is a prescription medicine. Take only as directed by your doctor. Usually one tablet twice daily, swallowed whole with water (do not crush or chew the prolonged-release tablet), with or without food. The dose may be adjusted after a couple of weeks based on your response. It is a preventer of angina, taken regularly. It does not relieve a sudden attack, for which you should use your fast-acting nitrate as advised. Do not stop without medical advice.

Ranolazine can affect the heart's electrical rhythm and interacts with many medicines. Tell your doctor about all your medicines (including some antibiotics, antifungals and heart-rhythm drugs) and about liver or kidney problems. Avoid grapefruit. May cause dizziness, constipation, nausea or headache. Take care driving until you know how it affects you. Keep using your other heart medicines and your reliever for acute attacks.
