Overview
Evra Patch (3 pack) from Janssen is a combined hormonal contraceptive skin patch that prevents pregnancy. Each patch releases two hormones. An oestrogen and a progestogen. Through the skin to stop the ovaries releasing an egg, thicken cervical mucus and make the womb lining less receptive. One patch is worn for a week at a time, offering reliable, once-weekly contraception without a daily pill to remember. When used correctly it is a highly effective method. A convenient, doctor-prescribed contraceptive choice for women who prefer a weekly routine.
Actives: Norelgestromin and Ethinylestradiol, released daily through the skin. Confirm exact daily amounts on the packaging.
Directions for Use
This is a prescription medicine. Use only as directed by your doctor. Apply one patch to clean, dry, hairless skin (buttock, abdomen, upper outer arm or upper back), pressing firmly for 10 seconds. Wear each patch for 7 days, then replace on the same day each week for 3 weeks, followed by a patch-free week (when a withdrawal bleed occurs). Rotate the site to reduce irritation, and check daily that the patch is stuck down. Follow the leaflet on what to do if a patch comes off or a change is late.
Combined hormonal contraceptives carry a small risk of blood clots. Seek urgent care for calf pain or swelling, chest pain, breathlessness, or sudden severe headache or vision changes. Not suitable if you smoke and are over 35, or have a history of clots, certain migraines, some cancers or uncontrolled high blood pressure. Tell your doctor your full history. It does not protect against sexually transmitted infections. May be less effective at higher body weight. Use as your doctor advises. Store in the original sachet below 30°C.
