Mariprist
- 1 tablet of Mifepristone (200 mg): Taken orally on day one. It works by blocking progesterone, the hormone necessary to maintain a pregnancy, causing the pregnancy to detach from the uterine lining. [
- 4 tablets of Misoprostol (200 mcg each / 800 mcg total): Taken 24 to 48 hours after the first pill. These are placed either under the tongue (sublingually), in the cheek pouches (buccally), or inside the vagina. They cause the uterus to contract and empty, expelling the pregnancy tissue.
- Symptoms: Heavy bleeding and strong abdominal cramping typically begin within 2 to 4 hours of taking the misoprostol tablets. Side effects can include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, chills, and mild fever.
- Warning Signs: You should seek immediate emergency medical care if you experience severe pain, a fever over 101°F (38.3°C), or if you soak through more than two heavy-flow menstrual pads per hour for two consecutive hours.
- Follow-up: A clinical follow-up or ultrasound is strongly recommended 10 to 14 days after taking the kit to verify that the pregnancy has been completely terminated.
