It belongs to the triptan group and is used to relieve a migraine headache once it has started (it does not prevent migraines). A doctor-prescribed option helping people cut short painful migraine attacks. Confirm the active on the pack.
Active: Sumatriptan 100mg per tablet (as succinate).
Directions for Use
This is a prescription medicine. Take only as directed. Take one tablet as soon as you know a migraine headache is starting (not for the warning aura phase), swallowed whole with water. If the migraine improves then comes back, a second dose may be taken after at least 2 hours, but do not take a second dose for the same attack that did not respond to the first. Do not exceed the maximum stated in 24 hours. It is for migraine attacks, not everyday headaches.
Not suitable if you have heart disease, a history of heart attack or stroke, uncontrolled high blood pressure, or certain circulation problems. Tell your doctor your full history. Do not use with ergotamine migraine medicines or within 2 weeks of certain antidepressants (MAOIs); tell your doctor about SSRIs/SNRIs (risk of serotonin syndrome). May cause tingling, warmth, drowsiness or chest tightness; seek urgent help for chest pain. Overusing acute migraine medicines can cause more headaches. Store below 30°C.
