Overview
Tenormin 50mg Tablets contain atenolol, a beta-blocker used to manage high blood pressure (hypertension), angina (chest pain) and certain irregular or fast heart rhythms. Atenolol slows the heart rate and reduces the force of each heartbeat, easing the workload on the heart and helping to control blood pressure. Keeping blood pressure and heart rate steady lowers the long-term risk of heart attacks and strokes. A common concern . Tenormin is prescribed for adults as part of a long-term plan that also includes healthy lifestyle changes, taken regularly under a doctor's supervision.
Active ingredient: Atenolol 50 mg per tablet.
Directions for Use
This medicine requires a prescription. Use only as directed by your doctor. Tenormin is usually taken once a day, at about the same time each day, swallowed whole with water, with or without food. Continue taking it even when you feel well, as high blood pressure often has no symptoms. Do not stop suddenly, as this can cause your heart rate or blood pressure to rise sharply and may worsen chest pain. Any change should be made gradually under medical supervision. Keep up regular blood pressure and pulse checks.
Do not stop atenolol abruptly. Tell your doctor if you have asthma or other breathing problems, a slow heart rate, heart failure, diabetes (it can mask low-blood-sugar warning signs), or circulation problems. It may cause tiredness, cold hands and feet, or dizziness, especially at first. Rise slowly from sitting or lying. Mention other heart, blood pressure or diabetes medicines.
