Overview

Uperio 100mg Tablets contain a combination of sacubitril and valsartan, a modern medicine for chronic heart failure. It works in two complementary ways. Sacubitril boosts the body's natural protective hormones that relax blood vessels and clear excess fluid, while valsartan blocks a hormone that tightens blood vessels and strains the heart. Together they reduce the heart's workload, ease breathlessness and swelling, and have been shown to lower the risk of heart-failure hospitalisation. The 100mg strength (sacubitril/valsartan 49/51mg) is a common dose. A specialist-prescribed treatment helping people with heart failure live better.

Actives: Sacubitril 49mg and Valsartan 51mg per tablet (sacubitril/valsartan complex; '100mg' total). Confirm on packaging.

Directions for Use

This is a prescription medicine, usually started by a heart specialist. Take only as directed. Usually one tablet twice daily, with or without food, swallowed with water at the same times each day. If you are switching from an ACE inhibitor (such as enalapril or ramipril), a gap of at least 36 hours is needed before starting. Follow your doctor's instructions exactly. Keep taking it even when you feel well, do not stop without advice, and attend regular blood-pressure, kidney and potassium checks.

Do not use in pregnancy. It can harm the unborn baby; tell your doctor at once if you become or plan to become pregnant. Do not take with an ACE inhibitor, and observe the 36-hour gap when switching, to avoid a serious swelling reaction (angioedema). Seek urgent care for swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat. May cause dizziness or low blood pressure, especially at first. Rise slowly. Can raise potassium and affect the kidneys. Store below 30°C, protected from moisture.
