Overview

Aciclobel (Aciclovir 5%) Cream 10g is an antiviral cream for cold sores (herpes simplex) on the lips and around the mouth. Aciclovir works against the herpes virus, and applied at the first tingling signs it can speed healing and shorten a cold sore outbreak. A convenient topical treatment to tackle cold sores early.

Directions for Use

At the first signs of a cold sore (tingling, itching), apply a small amount to the affected area five times a day (roughly every 4 hours during the day) for the directed number of days, typically 5 days. Wash hands before and after applying, and use a clean fingertip or cotton bud to avoid spreading the virus. Start as early as possible for best effect.

For external use on the lips and around the mouth only. Avoid the eyes, inside the mouth and the genital area. Wash hands after applying and avoid touching the eyes, to prevent spreading the virus. It treats cold sores but does not cure the underlying virus, which can recur. Discontinue if irritation develops. Frequent, severe or widespread outbreaks, cold sores near the eye, or outbreaks in someone with a weakened immune system, should be assessed by a doctor. Use in pregnancy on advice.
