Epsom Salt 500g is pharmaceutical-grade magnesium sulphate crystals with two time-honoured uses: dissolved in a warm bath or foot soak to relax tired, aching muscles and soften skin, or taken occasionally by mouth as a short-term saline laxative for constipation. Magnesium sulphate draws water into the bowel to ease constipation, while warm Epsom salt baths are a favourite for post-exercise recovery, stress relief and foot care. Directions for Use
For a relaxing bath: dissolve 1-2 cups in a warm bath and soak for 15-20 minutes. For a foot soak: dissolve half a cup in a basin of warm water. As a laxative (adults): dissolve the dose stated on the packaging. Typically 1-2 teaspoons. In a full glass of water and drink, preferably on an empty stomach; effects usually occur within 30 minutes to 6 hours. Drink plenty of fluids. Do not use as a laxative for more than a few days.
Do not take orally if you have kidney disease, a heart condition, severe abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting or suspected bowel obstruction. Seek medical advice first. Prolonged or excessive laxative use can cause dehydration and salt imbalance. Consult a doctor before oral use if pregnant, breastfeeding, on a magnesium-restricted diet, or giving to children. For bath use, avoid soaking open wounds or severe skin infections. If constipation persists beyond a few days, see a doctor. Store in a cool, dry place, tightly sealed.
