Overview

Gentian Violet 100ml is a traditional antiseptic and antifungal solution (also called crystal violet or methyl violet). Applied to the skin or mouth, it helps treat fungal skin infections (such as ringworm and thrush), oral thrush, and minor bacterial skin infections, and is used on minor cuts and sores. A long-established, economical topical antiseptic with a characteristic deep violet colour.

Directions for Use

Apply a small amount to the affected skin or, for oral thrush, to the inside of the mouth using a clean cotton bud, once or twice daily as directed. Let it dry. Use for the period advised. It stains skin, clothing and surfaces a deep violet. Apply carefully and protect clothing. Confirm the strength and use with your pharmacist.

For external and oral use as directed only. Do not swallow large amounts. It stains skin, clothing, fabric and surfaces strongly. Avoid applying to broken or ulcerated skin over large areas, and do not use on the face near the eyes. Discontinue if irritation develops. For oral use, use the appropriate dilution and avoid in young infants unless advised. Persistent, spreading or non-healing infection needs medical assessment. Use in pregnancy only on advice.
