Trenaxa 500mg Tablets (30 pack) from Macleods contain tranexamic acid, a medicine that reduces and controls bleeding. Tranexamic acid works by slowing the breakdown of blood clots, helping the body hold a stable clot and so reducing excessive blood loss. It is widely used for heavy menstrual periods (menorrhagia) and in other situations of troublesome bleeding, such as nosebleeds or bleeding around dental procedures. By cutting heavy blood loss, it eases the tiredness and disruption that heavy bleeding causes. A doctor-prescribed option helping women and patients bring heavy bleeding under control.

Directions for Use

This is a prescription medicine. Take only as directed by your doctor. For heavy periods, usually a few tablets a day taken only during the days of heavy bleeding (not the whole cycle), swallowed with water. Start when the period becomes heavy and follow the dose and number of days your doctor sets. Tell your doctor if heavy bleeding continues, as the cause may need investigation.

Do not use if you have a history of blood clots (such as deep vein thrombosis or stroke) or certain clotting disorders. Tell your doctor about these and about kidney problems. Stop and seek urgent care for calf pain or swelling, chest pain, breathlessness or sudden vision changes. May cause nausea, diarrhoea or dizziness. Persistent or unexplained heavy bleeding should be medically assessed. Use in pregnancy or breastfeeding only on advice. Store below 30°C.
