Overview
Warfarin 5mg Tablets (28 pack) are a blood-thinning (anticoagulant) medicine that reduces the blood's tendency to form dangerous clots. Warfarin works by lowering the activity of vitamin K-dependent clotting factors, helping prevent and treat conditions such as deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism, and clots linked to atrial fibrillation or mechanical heart valves. Its effect needs regular blood-test (INR) monitoring to keep it in the safe range. A long-established, closely supervised therapy for patients at risk of harmful blood clots.
Warfarin sodium 5mg per tablet.
Directions for Use
This is a prescription medicine. Take only as directed by your doctor. Once daily at the same time, usually in the evening, swallowed with water. The exact dose is set by your INR blood test and may change between doses (tablets of different strengths are often combined). Never change the dose yourself; attend all INR tests, keep your vitamin K intake (green leafy vegetables) steady, and tell every healthcare provider you take warfarin.
Warfarin interacts with many medicines, supplements, alcohol and foods. Always check before starting or stopping anything, including herbal remedies and painkillers (avoid aspirin/NSAIDs unless prescribed). Seek urgent care for unusual bleeding or bruising, blood in urine or stool, black stools, severe headache, or a fall/head injury. Not for use in pregnancy. Carry an anticoagulant alert card. Missed or extra doses affect your INR. Follow your clinic's advice. Store below 25°C protected from light.
