Overview
Apixa Q 5mg (apixaban) is a prescription anticoagulant ('blood thinner') used to prevent and treat harmful blood clots. It helps prevent stroke in people with an irregular heartbeat (atrial fibrillation), and treats and prevents deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (clots in the legs and lungs). By reducing the blood's tendency to clot, apixaban lowers the risk of dangerous clots for adults , while needing fewer routine blood tests than older blood thinners.

This is a prescription medicine. Take only as directed by your doctor. Apixa Q 5mg is usually taken twice daily, with or without food, swallowed with water, at the same times each day. Take it regularly. Do not miss doses, and do not stop without medical advice, as stopping increases clot risk. If you miss a dose, follow your doctor's or pharmacist's guidance.
