Epilim EC 200mg Tablets (100 pack) from Sanofi contain sodium valproate in an enteric-coated (EC) tablet, used to treat epilepsy (controlling several seizure types) and to help manage the manic episodes of bipolar disorder. Valproate works by calming over-active electrical signalling in the brain, helping to prevent seizures and stabilise mood. The enteric coating helps protect the stomach. Directions for Use

This is a prescription medicine. Take only as directed by your doctor. Swallow the enteric-coated tablets WHOLE with water (do not crush or chew), usually with or after food, at the dose and times set for you. Keep taking it regularly even when you feel well, and do not stop suddenly, as this can trigger seizures; any change is made gradually under medical guidance. Attend your blood-test and review appointments.

VERY IMPORTANT: valproate must NOT be used in pregnancy or by women/girls able to become pregnant unless there is a pregnancy-prevention plan, as it causes serious birth defects and developmental problems. Discuss contraception and any pregnancy plans with your doctor before use. Report severe stomach pain, vomiting, yellowing of the skin/eyes, unusual bruising/bleeding, or new confusion (signs of liver or pancreas problems). May cause drowsiness and weight gain.
