Rivastigmine 1.5mg Capsules treat the symptoms of mild to moderately severe Alzheimer's dementia and dementia associated with Parkinson's disease. Rivastigmine boosts acetylcholine, the brain's memory-and-thinking messenger, supporting cognition, daily functioning and behaviour. The 1.5mg strength is the standard starting dose, taken twice daily and increased gradually under specialist guidance.

Directions for Use

This is a prescription medicine. Take only as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. Take one capsule twice daily with morning and evening meals. Food reduces stomach upset. Treatment starts at 1.5mg twice daily and is increased stepwise by the doctor based on tolerance. Caregivers should supervise dosing. If treatment is interrupted for more than a few days, contact the doctor before restarting. It must resume at the lowest dose.

Nausea, vomiting, reduced appetite and weight loss are the most common effects, especially during dose increases. Report persistent vomiting promptly. Tell the doctor about heart rhythm problems (slow pulse), stomach ulcers, asthma or COPD, seizures and urinary problems. Monitor weight during treatment. May cause dizziness or drowsiness.
