Overview
Bromsal Expectorant Syrup is a cough remedy that combines a mucus-thinning expectorant with a bronchodilator to relieve a chesty, productive cough. It typically pairs bromhexine (which loosens and thins sticky mucus so it is easier to cough up) with salbutamol (which relaxes the airways) and often guaifenesin, easing a tight, congested chest and helping clear phlegm in conditions such as bronchitis and chest colds with wheeze. By loosening mucus and opening the airways, it makes coughing more productive and breathing more comfortable. A useful option for people with a chesty, wheezy cough. Confirm the exact actives on the pack.
Typically Bromhexine with Salbutamol and Guaifenesin (and sometimes menthol). Confirm exact actives and strengths on the product packaging.
Directions for Use
Take only as directed on the label or by your doctor. The dose depends on age, usually taken three times a day. Shake the bottle well and measure with the cup or spoon provided. Drinking plenty of water helps the expectorant loosen mucus. Use for short-term relief; see a doctor if the cough lasts more than a week or comes with high fever or breathlessness.
Because it contains a bronchodilator (salbutamol), it can occasionally cause a faster heartbeat, tremor or restlessness. Tell your doctor about heart problems, high blood pressure, overactive thyroid or diabetes. See a doctor for a cough that persists beyond about a week, or comes with high fever, chest pain, breathlessness or coughing up blood. Tell your pharmacist about other medicines. Use in pregnancy or breastfeeding only on advice. Store below 30°C. This product information is for general guidance only and does not replace professional medical advice. Always consult a qualified healthcare provider before starting any new medication or supplement. Keep all medicines out of reach of children.
