Overview

Hactosec 6mg/ml Dry Cough Syrup (levodropropizine) is used for the symptomatic relief of a dry, non-productive, irritating cough. Levodropropizine is a peripherally-acting cough suppressant that calms the cough reflex by acting on sensory nerves in the airways, helping to soothe a persistent dry, tickly cough without the heavy sedation of some older cough medicines. This 150ml syrup is suitable for adults and children (from 2 years) , and is often a useful choice for people with diabetes as it is sugar-considerate.

Directions for Use

Shake well and measure with the dosing device provided. For adults, the usual dose is up to 10ml (60mg) up to three times daily; for children, follow the lower weight/age-based dose on the packaging (not for children under 2). Leave at least 6 hours between doses, and preferably take away from meals. Use for the shortest time needed.

Not for children under 2 years. For a dry cough only. Not suitable for a productive (phlegmy) cough where clearing mucus is needed. May occasionally cause drowsiness or dizziness. Take care with driving, and avoid alcohol. Use with caution in significant kidney impairment, pregnancy and breastfeeding (only on medical advice). If the cough lasts more than one to two weeks, or comes with high fever, breathlessness or blood, see a doctor. Store in a cool, dry place.
