Overview
Lantus Cartridges (3ml, 5 pack) from Sanofi contain insulin glargine, a long-acting (basal) insulin used to control blood sugar in people with diabetes. It provides a steady, background level of insulin that lasts up to 24 hours from a single daily dose, helping to keep blood sugar stable between meals and overnight. It is often used together with a fast-acting mealtime insulin or other diabetes medicines. The cartridges are used in a compatible reusable insulin pen. Directions for Use
This is a prescription medicine. Use exactly the dose and timing your doctor has set. Insulin doses are individual. Lantus is injected just under the skin once a day, at the same time each day, using a compatible pen and a new needle each time. Rotate injection sites. It is a clear solution. Do not mix it with other insulins in the same injection. Check your blood sugar as advised, and know how to recognise and treat low blood sugar.
The main risk is low blood sugar (hypoglycaemia). Know the signs (shakiness, sweating, hunger, confusion) and always carry a fast sugar source. Do not give a double dose if you miss one without advice. Tell your doctor about kidney or liver problems and other medicines. Do not share pens/cartridges. Store unused cartridges in the fridge (2-8°C, do not freeze); the in-use cartridge can be kept below 30°C for the days stated on the pack.
