May cause genital or urinary infections and dehydration; rare risk of ketoacidosis. Seek help for nausea, vomiting or abdominal pain with breathing difficulty. Metformin should be paused around contrast-dye procedures or serious illness. Limit alcohol. Use in pregnancy or breastfeeding only if advised. Store in a cool, dry place.
