Overview
Glipita M 50/500mg is a prescription combination medicine for type 2 diabetes, containing sitagliptin and metformin. Sitagliptin (a DPP-4 inhibitor) increases natural hormones that boost insulin release after meals and reduce excess glucose production, while metformin reduces glucose made by the liver, lowers glucose absorbed from food and improves the body's response to insulin. Together they provide better blood sugar control than one medicine alone, helping adults manage type 2 diabetes alongside diet and exercise.
Directions for Use
This is a prescription medicine. Take only as directed by your doctor. Glipita M is usually taken twice daily with meals, to reduce the chance of stomach upset, swallowed whole with water. Do not change the dose or stop without medical advice, and keep up with regular blood sugar checks.
This is a prescription medicine. Tell your doctor about kidney or liver problems. Metformin is not suitable in significant kidney impairment. Stop and seek urgent care for signs of lactic acidosis (rare): rapid breathing, severe weakness, muscle pain or feeling very cold. On its own it rarely causes low blood sugar, but the risk rises with insulin or a sulfonylurea. Stop and seek help for severe, persistent stomach pain (possible pancreatitis). Metformin should be paused around contrast-dye scans or serious illness. Limit alcohol. Avoid in pregnancy/breastfeeding unless advised. Store in a cool, dry place. This product information is for general guidance only and does not replace professional medical advice. Always consult a qualified healthcare provider before starting any new medication. Keep all medicines out of reach of children.
