Overview
Jentadueto 2.5/1000mg Tablets (60 pack) from Boehringer Ingelheim are a combination medicine for type 2 diabetes, pairing linagliptin 2.5mg. A DPP-4 inhibitor (gliptin). With metformin 1000mg. Linagliptin helps the body release more of its own insulin after meals and reduces the hormones that raise blood sugar, while metformin lowers the sugar made by the liver and helps the body use insulin better. Together they give fuller blood-sugar control from one tablet. Used with diet and exercise, it helps people with type 2 diabetes manage their glucose. Confirm the actives on the pack.
Actives: Linagliptin 2.5mg and Metformin hydrochloride 1000mg per tablet.
Directions for Use
This is a prescription medicine. Take only as directed by your doctor. Usually one tablet twice daily WITH food, swallowed whole with water, to reduce the stomach upset metformin can cause. Take it at the same times each day. Keep taking it alongside your diet and exercise plan even when you feel well, and attend your blood-sugar and kidney reviews so the dose can be adjusted.
Common metformin effects include nausea, diarrhoea and a metallic taste, usually easing with food and time. Tell your doctor about kidney or liver problems, as metformin needs caution; stop it around contrast X-ray dyes, major illness or dehydration (rare risk of lactic acidosis). Report severe ongoing stomach pain (rare risk of pancreatitis). The risk of low blood sugar rises if combined with insulin or sulfonylureas. Use in pregnancy or breastfeeding only on advice. Store below 30°C. This product information is for general guidance only and does not replace professional medical advice. Keep all medicines out of reach of children.
