Overview

Gaviscon Double Action is a fast-acting heartburn and indigestion remedy that works in two ways at once. It combines antacids, which neutralise excess stomach acid, with alginate, which forms a protective 'raft' that floats on top of the stomach contents to stop acid rising into the food pipe (reflux). This dual action relieves the burning of heartburn and acid reflux and soothes acid indigestion, including the reflux that can trouble people after meals or at night. A trusted, fast-acting option helping people settle heartburn, acid reflux and indigestion.

Actives typically: Sodium alginate with sodium bicarbonate and calcium carbonate (antacid/alginate 'raft'). Confirm exact amounts and form (liquid/tablet) on the pack.

Directions for Use

Take as directed on the label. For the liquid, usually a measured dose (e.g. 10-20ml) after meals and at bedtime; for tablets, chew them well. Shake the liquid before use and measure with the cup provided. It works best taken after food and before lying down. Take it a couple of hours apart from other medicines, as antacids can affect how those are absorbed. For short-term, symptomatic use.
