Overview
Betaloc ZOK 25mg Tablets (14 pack) are the gentlest strength of AstraZeneca's once-daily controlled-release metoprolol succinate, often used to start treatment. Particularly in stable heart failure, where beta-blockers are introduced 'low and slow'. The ZOK system releases metoprolol evenly across 24 hours, protecting the heart without sudden dips in heart rate or blood pressure. It suits patients beginning beta-blocker therapy, those stepping doses up gradually under cardiology review, and patients sensitive to stronger strengths.
Metoprolol succinate 23.75mg (equivalent to metoprolol tartrate 25mg) per extended-release tablet.
Directions for Use
This is a prescription medicine. Take only as directed by your doctor. Usually one tablet once daily in the morning, swallowed whole or halved at the score line but not chewed or crushed. In heart failure the dose is increased gradually every few weeks under medical supervision. Take consistently at the same time daily and never stop abruptly. Tapering is required.
Do not use with severe asthma, very slow heart rate, heart block or unstable heart failure. Report worsening breathlessness, ankle swelling or weight gain promptly when starting in heart failure. May cause fatigue, dizziness and cold extremities; rise slowly. Masks hypoglycaemia symptoms in diabetics. Caution with other rate-slowing medicines, and tell your doctor before any surgery. Pregnancy and breastfeeding use on medical advice only. Store below 30°C. This product information is for general guidance only and does not replace professional medical advice. Always consult a qualified healthcare provider before starting any new medication or supplement. Keep all medicines out of reach of children.
