Overview
Cardinol 100mg Film-Coated Tablets contain atenolol, a cardio-selective beta-blocker for high blood pressure (hypertension), angina (chest pain) and certain irregular heart rhythms. Atenolol works directly on the heart, slowing the heart rate and reducing the heart's workload so it pumps blood more efficiently. The 100mg strength is for patients whose blood pressure or angina needs a higher maintenance dose, as determined by their doctor. As a Pharmacy and Poisons Board-registered medicine, Cardinol 100mg offers patients a dependable, cost-effective option for long-term heart and blood pressure care.
Atenolol 100mg per film-coated tablet.
Directions for Use
This is a prescription medicine. Take only as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. The usual dose is one tablet once daily at the same time each day, with or without food. Swallow whole with water. Do not chew or crush. Treatment is usually long-term; keep taking it even when you feel well. Never stop Cardinol suddenly. Your doctor will taper the dose if needed to avoid worsening chest pain or blood pressure.
Do not use if you have a very slow heartbeat, certain heart-rhythm disorders or untreated heart failure. Use cautiously in asthma or breathing problems, and in diabetes. Atenolol can mask low blood sugar warning signs. Dose adjustment may be needed in kidney disease; higher doses require closer monitoring. Generally avoided in pregnancy. Inform your doctor if pregnant or planning pregnancy. Side effects can include tiredness, dizziness, cold hands and feet and slow heart rate. Take care when driving until you know how it affects you. Store below 30°C. This product information is for general guidance only and does not replace professional medical advice. Always consult a qualified healthcare provider before starting any new medication or supplement. Keep all medicines out of reach of children.
