Glyceryl Trinitrate (GTN) 400mcg Spray is a fast-acting medicine sprayed under the tongue to relieve or prevent angina (chest pain caused by heart disease). Each spray delivers 400 micrograms of glyceryl trinitrate, which quickly widens the blood vessels so the heart receives more oxygen-rich blood and its workload is reduced, easing the chest tightness or pain of an angina attack. It can also be used just before activity that usually brings on angina. GTN spray is an essential rapid reliever for people with angina to carry at all times.

Directions for Use

This is a prescription medicine. Use only as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. At the first sign of angina, sit down, then spray the dose under the tongue (do not inhale) and close your mouth. If the pain does not ease after one dose, a second can be used after about 5 minutes as advised. If pain continues after the doses your doctor recommends (usually 2-3 sprays or 10-15 minutes), seek emergency help immediately. Do not shake before use.

If chest pain is not relieved after the recommended doses, call for emergency medical help. It could be a heart attack. It commonly causes headache, flushing and dizziness; sit down when using it to avoid fainting. Do not use with medicines for erectile dysfunction (such as sildenafil or tadalafil), as the combination can cause a dangerous drop in blood pressure. Avoid alcohol. Tell your doctor about heart, blood-pressure or other conditions. It is flammable. Keep away from flames and store as directed.
