Overview

Tolvat 15mg contains tolvaptan, a medicine that helps the body remove excess water while retaining sodium. It is used under specialist care to treat low blood sodium (hyponatraemia). For example in the syndrome of inappropriate antidiuretic hormone (SIADH), and in some forms of polycystic kidney disease. By increasing the amount of water passed as urine, it helps correct sodium balance. Supplied as a 4-tablet pack and used under close medical monitoring.

Directions for Use

This is a prescription medicine used under specialist medical supervision only. Dosage is determined by your prescribing doctor based on your individual needs and blood test results. Do not adjust your dose without medical supervision. Sodium levels are monitored, especially when starting, and you should drink water in response to thirst. Swallow with water.

Tolvaptan must be started and monitored by a specialist, because correcting sodium too quickly can be dangerous. Not for use if you cannot sense or respond to thirst, in certain kidney or liver conditions, or in pregnancy and breastfeeding. Report unusual thirst, tiredness, nausea or signs of liver problems.
