Overview
Anomex Ointment is a combination medicine for the relief of haemorrhoids (piles) and related anal discomfort. It typically combines a mild corticosteroid (hydrocortisone) to reduce inflammation and itching, a local anaesthetic (lidocaine) to numb pain, zinc oxide to soothe and protect, and allantoin to aid skin repair. Applied to the affected area, it relieves the pain, itching, swelling and irritation of piles, helping adults feel more comfortable during a flare-up.
Directions for Use
Clean and gently dry the affected area. Apply a small amount of ointment to the external anal area, usually two to three times daily and after bowel movements, or as directed. If an applicator is provided for internal use, follow the packaging instructions. Wash your hands before and after use. Use for the short period advised (usually not more than about a week for the steroid-containing product) unless your doctor says otherwise.
For short-term anal/rectal use as directed. Because it contains a corticosteroid, avoid prolonged use (generally no more than about 7 days) without medical advice, as this can thin the delicate skin. Do not use if there is a known infection of the area unless advised. Tell your doctor if allergic to local anaesthetics. Seek advice for significant or persistent rectal bleeding, severe pain or a change in bowel habit, as these need assessment. Use in pregnancy/breastfeeding only if advised.
