Overview

Anusol Ointment 25g is a trusted over-the-counter treatment for haemorrhoids (piles), anal itching and other minor anorectal discomfort. Its combination of zinc oxide, bismuth salts and balsam peru soothes, protects and helps shrink inflamed tissue, forming a calming barrier that relieves the burning, itching and soreness of piles. A common but rarely discussed problem, including during and after pregnancy. The ointment format suits both external and internal application with the applicator, giving discreet, effective relief while the underlying cause is addressed.

Zinc oxide 10.75%, bismuth oxide 0.875%, bismuth subgallate 2.25%, balsam peru 1.875% w/w. Full excipient list available on product packaging.

Directions for Use

Wash and gently dry the anal area. Apply the ointment morning, night and after each bowel motion. Externally, or internally using the rectal applicator (clean the applicator after each use). Use for up to 7 days; if symptoms persist, worsen or bleed, see a doctor or pharmacist. Combine with plenty of fluids and fibre to keep stools soft.

For anorectal use only. Do not use with a known allergy to any ingredient, including balsam peru. Rectal bleeding, severe pain or a lump that does not settle needs medical assessment. Do not self-treat persistent symptoms. Safe use in pregnancy is generally accepted, but check with your pharmacist or midwife first. Store below 25°C and replace the cap tightly.
