Overview

Scheriproct Ointment (30g) combines the corticosteroid prednisolone with the local anaesthetic cinchocaine to relieve the discomfort of haemorrhoids (piles) and related anal conditions. Prednisolone reduces the inflammation, swelling and itching, while cinchocaine numbs the area to ease pain and soreness quickly. Together they calm the burning, itching and discomfort of internal and external piles, anal fissures and proctitis. A doctor- or pharmacist-recommended option that brings prompt, soothing relief for people troubled by painful, itchy haemorrhoids.

Actives: Prednisolone hexanoate 0.19% and Cinchocaine (dibucaine) hydrochloride 0.5% per gram.

Directions for Use

Use only as directed. Usually applied to the affected area twice daily (and after each bowel movement) for the first days, then once daily as symptoms settle, for no longer than the recommended short course (about a week). Wash and dry the area, then apply a small amount of ointment with a clean fingertip; for internal piles, use the applicator provided. Wash your hands afterwards.

For short-term use only. Because it contains a steroid, do not use for longer than recommended without medical advice, as prolonged use can thin the delicate skin of the area. Do not use if there is a known infection (viral, fungal or bacterial) of the area without treating it. Stop and see a doctor if symptoms persist, or if you notice rectal bleeding, which should always be assessed. Use in pregnancy or breastfeeding only on medical advice. Store below 25°C.
