Aldactone 25mg Tablets (100 pack) from Pfizer contain spironolactone, a potassium-sparing 'water tablet' (diuretic) that also blocks the hormone aldosterone. It helps the body clear excess fluid without losing potassium, and is used for heart failure, fluid build-up (oedema) from liver or kidney conditions, certain types of high blood pressure, and conditions of hormone excess. It is also used for hormonal acne and excess hair growth in women. By rebalancing fluid and salt and countering aldosterone, it eases swelling and supports the heart. A versatile, doctor-prescribed medicine used in many conditions .

Directions for Use

This is a prescription medicine. Take only as directed by your doctor. Usually once or twice daily, swallowed with water, ideally with food and earlier in the day so increased urination does not disturb sleep. Keep taking it even when you feel well, and do not stop without advice. Attend the regular blood tests your doctor arranges to check potassium and kidney function.

Because it keeps potassium in the body, avoid potassium supplements and potassium-based salt substitutes, and tell your doctor about kidney problems or other blood-pressure/potassium medicines. High potassium can be dangerous. May cause dizziness, especially on standing (rise slowly), and in men can sometimes cause breast tenderness or enlargement.
