Overview
Lasix 40mg Tablets contain furosemide, a fast-acting water tablet (diuretic) that helps the body remove excess fluid and salt through the urine. It is used to relieve fluid build-up (oedema) and swelling caused by heart failure, kidney disease or liver problems, and to help control high blood pressure. By reducing excess fluid, Lasix eases swelling in the legs and breathlessness, helping people feel more comfortable. It is prescribed for adults under a doctor's supervision and is often used long term as part of managing heart, kidney or blood-pressure conditions.
Active ingredient: Furosemide 40 mg per tablet.
Directions for Use
This medicine requires a prescription. Use only as directed by your doctor. Lasix is usually taken once or twice a day. Because it increases urination, it is best taken in the morning (and, if a second dose is needed, by early afternoon) so it does not disturb your sleep. Swallow the tablet with water. Take it regularly as prescribed and do not change the dose yourself. Your doctor may check your kidney function and blood salts during treatment, and may advise on fluid intake.
Furosemide can lower body salts such as potassium and cause dehydration; tell your doctor if you have severe dizziness, muscle cramps, a very dry mouth or an irregular heartbeat. Rise slowly from sitting or lying, as blood pressure may drop. Tell your doctor if you have kidney or liver disease, diabetes, gout or difficulty passing urine, and mention other blood pressure or heart medicines. You may need foods rich in potassium or a supplement if advised. Tell your doctor if pregnant or breastfeeding. Store below 30C, away from light. Always consult a qualified healthcare provider before starting any new medication or supplement. Keep all medicines out of reach of children.
