Overview

Metoz 5mg Tablets (30 pack) contain metolazone at the 5mg strength, a thiazide-like 'water tablet' (diuretic) that helps the body remove excess fluid and lower blood pressure. By increasing the loss of salt and water through the kidneys, metolazone relieves the fluid build-up (oedema) of heart failure and some kidney and liver conditions, and helps control hypertension. It remains effective even with reduced kidney function and is sometimes combined with another diuretic for a stronger effect when fluid overload is harder to shift. A doctor-prescribed option helping people manage stubborn fluid retention or high blood pressure. Confirm the active on the pack.

Directions for Use

This is a prescription medicine. Take only as directed by your doctor. Usually once daily in the morning (it increases urination), swallowed with water, with or without food. When added to another water tablet the combined effect can be strong, so follow your doctor's instructions and monitoring closely. Keep taking it as prescribed, and attend the regular blood tests your doctor arranges to check kidney function and salts.

Can lower potassium, sodium and other salts and cause dehydration. Tell your doctor about muscle cramps, marked weakness, dizziness or a very dry mouth, and attend blood checks. May cause dizziness on standing (rise slowly). Can affect blood sugar and uric acid. Caution with diabetes and gout. Tell your doctor about kidney or liver problems and other blood-pressure or potassium medicines. Use in pregnancy or breastfeeding only on advice. Store below 30°C.
