After a joint injection, rest the joint as advised; a temporary flare of pain can occur before relief sets in. Repeated injections into the same joint are limited to protect the joint. Tell the clinician about infection (steroids are not injected into infected areas), diabetes (blood sugar can rise), and all medicines.
