Overview

Augmentin 375mg Tablets (20 pack) from GSK contain co-amoxiclav. Amoxicillin 250mg with clavulanic acid 125mg. The clavulanic acid shields amoxicillin from bacterial defence enzymes, extending its reach to resistant bacteria that cause sinusitis, ear infections, chest infections (including bronchitis and pneumonia), urinary tract infections, dental abscesses and skin infections. The 375mg strength is typically taken three times daily and suits adults and older children able to swallow tablets. One of the world's most trusted broad-spectrum antibiotics, prescribed daily across Kenya.

Each tablet: amoxicillin 250mg (as trihydrate) and clavulanic acid 125mg (as potassium clavulanate). Co-amoxiclav 375mg.

Directions for Use

This is a prescription medicine. Take only as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. The usual adult dose is one 375mg tablet three times daily, spaced about 8 hours apart, taken at the start of a meal to improve absorption and reduce stomach upset. Swallow whole with water. Complete the entire prescribed course even if you feel better after a few days. Stopping early lets surviving bacteria regrow stronger.

Do not use if allergic to penicillins, or if you have previously had jaundice or liver problems with co-amoxiclav. Seek urgent help for any allergic reaction. Rash, facial swelling, difficulty breathing. Common side effects: diarrhoea, nausea, thrush. Tell your doctor if you have liver or kidney disease, glandular fever, or take allopurinol, methotrexate or blood thinners (warfarin). Prolonged or severe diarrhoea after antibiotics needs medical review. Generally considered compatible with pregnancy and breastfeeding when prescribed. Confirm with your doctor.
