Overview

Ceflorex 400mg Capsules contain cefixime, a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic used to treat a range of bacterial infections. It is commonly prescribed for urinary tract infections (UTIs), respiratory and chest infections, ear, nose and throat infections, and certain other bacterial infections including some sexually transmitted infections. Cefixime works by killing the bacteria responsible for the infection. Ceflorex is for adults and children (as prescribed) whose doctor has confirmed a bacterial infection that responds to cefixime; it does not work against viral illnesses such as colds or flu.

Active ingredient: Cefixime 400 mg per capsule.

Directions for Use

This medicine requires a prescription. Use only as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. Ceflorex is usually taken once daily (or as two divided doses) with water, with or without food. Taking it with food can ease stomach upset. Swallow the capsule whole. Complete the full course exactly as prescribed, even if you feel better after a few days, to fully clear the infection and prevent resistance. Take doses at evenly spaced times each day.

Tell your doctor if you are allergic to cefixime, other cephalosporins or penicillins, or have kidney problems or a history of bowel disease. May cause diarrhoea; seek advice if it becomes severe, watery or bloody. Other possible effects include nausea and, rarely, allergic reactions. Stop and seek urgent help if you develop a rash, swelling or breathing difficulty. Tell your doctor about other medicines you take. Tell your doctor if pregnant or breastfeeding.
