Overview
Dalacin-C 300mg Capsules from Pfizer contain clindamycin, a lincosamide antibiotic reserved for serious or penicillin-unsuitable bacterial infections. It is prescribed for skin and soft-tissue infections (including abscesses and cellulitis), dental and jaw infections, bone and joint infections (osteomyelitis), certain respiratory infections and some gynaecological infections. Clindamycin penetrates bone and tissue exceptionally well, making it a key option where other antibiotics fail or cannot be used. Including for patients allergic to penicillin. Dalacin-C 300mg (16 capsules) is dispensed against a prescription .
Clindamycin (as clindamycin hydrochloride) 300mg per capsule. Contains lactose. See packaging for full excipients.
Directions for Use
This is a prescription medicine. Take only as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. The usual adult dose is one 300mg capsule every 6-8 hours, depending on infection severity. Swallow each capsule with a full glass of water, sitting or standing upright, to avoid irritation of the food pipe. It may be taken with food to reduce stomach upset. Space doses evenly and complete the full prescribed course even if you feel better.
Stop and contact your doctor immediately if you develop persistent, watery or bloody diarrhoea. During or even weeks after treatment. As clindamycin can rarely cause a serious bowel infection (C. difficile colitis); do not self-treat such diarrhoea with anti-diarrhoeal medicines. Do not use if allergic to clindamycin or lincomycin. Tell your doctor about liver or kidney disease, gut disorders, and all other medicines. Tell your doctor if pregnant or breastfeeding. Store below 25°C in a dry place.
