Overview
Gramocef-O 100mg/5ml Suspension is a children's antibiotic containing cefixime, a third-generation cephalosporin. This easy-to-give liquid is used to treat a range of bacterial infections in children, including ear, nose and throat infections, chest and respiratory infections, urinary tract infections and typhoid fever. Cefixime works by killing the bacteria causing the infection. The measured suspension makes accurate, weight-based dosing simple for parents. Gramocef-O suspension is prescribed for children whose doctor has confirmed a bacterial infection that responds to cefixime; it does not work against viral illnesses such as colds or flu.
Active ingredient: Cefixime 100 mg per 5 ml (when reconstituted).
Directions for Use
This medicine requires a prescription. Use only as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. Reconstitute (if supplied as a dry powder) with the stated amount of cooled boiled water, then shake well before each dose. Measure the dose with the device provided, based on your child's weight as directed, usually once or twice daily with or without food. Complete the full prescribed course even if your child improves. Discard any reconstituted suspension after the period stated on the pack (often 7-14 days).
Tell your doctor if your child is allergic to cefixime, other cephalosporins or penicillins, or has kidney problems. May cause diarrhoea; seek advice if it becomes severe, watery or bloody. Stop and seek urgent help for any rash, swelling or breathing difficulty. Mention any other medicines your child takes. Shake well before every dose and keep refrigerated if the label directs. This product information is for general guidance only and does not replace professional medical advice. Always consult a qualified healthcare provider before starting any new medication or supplement. Keep all medicines out of reach of children.
