Overview

Metronidazole 400mg Tablets (100 pack) contain metronidazole, an antibiotic and antiprotozoal medicine. It treats infections caused by certain bacteria and parasites, including dental and gum infections, some gut and abdominal infections, bacterial vaginosis and trichomonas, and parasitic infections such as amoebiasis and giardiasis. Metronidazole works by killing the bacteria and parasites causing the infection. A widely used, doctor-prescribed medicine helping people treat a range of infections. Confirm the active on the pack.

Directions for Use

This is a prescription medicine. Take only as directed by your doctor. The dose and number of days depend on the infection, usually two to three times a day, swallowed whole with water, with or after food to reduce stomach upset. Complete the full course exactly as prescribed, even if you feel better sooner. IMPORTANT: do not drink any alcohol during treatment and for at least 48 hours after, as the combination causes an unpleasant reaction.

Do NOT drink alcohol during treatment or for about 2 days afterwards. It can cause flushing, headache, nausea and vomiting. May cause a metallic taste, nausea or dark urine (harmless). Tell your doctor about liver problems, nervous-system conditions, or other medicines (such as warfarin). Report numbness or tingling in the hands/feet, or fits, promptly.
