Nitrofurantoin 100mg is an antibiotic used to treat and prevent urinary tract infections (UTIs), such as cystitis and bladder infections. It is a prescription medicine that works by killing the bacteria that commonly infect the urinary tract, relieving symptoms like burning when passing urine and the frequent urge to go. Nitrofurantoin concentrates in the urine, making it especially effective for lower urinary tract infections. It is often used for uncomplicated UTIs, particularly in women, and sometimes at a low dose to help prevent recurrent infections.

Directions for Use
This is a prescription medicine. Take only as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. It is usually taken with food or a glass of milk, which aids absorption and reduces stomach upset. For a typical infection, a tablet is taken two to four times a day for the prescribed number of days (often 5-7). Complete the full course even if you feel better, and space the doses evenly.
Not suitable for people with significantly reduced kidney function, or for babies under 3 months. Avoid late in pregnancy (near delivery). Tell your doctor if you have G6PD deficiency, lung or liver problems, or nerve conditions. It may turn the urine dark yellow or brown, which is harmless. Seek advice for a new cough or breathlessness, numbness or tingling, or persistent symptoms. Finish the course. Store below 25°C, protected from light.
