Overview

Univir 200mg Tablets contain aciclovir 200mg, the classic antiviral for herpes simplex infections. Treating cold sores, genital herpes and other HSV infections, and suppressing frequent recurrences. Aciclovir blocks the virus's ability to multiply, shortening outbreaks, easing pain and speeding healing when started early, and preventing recurrences when taken continuously as prescribed.

Directions for Use

This is a prescription medicine. Take only as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. Take exactly as prescribed. Treatment courses are typically five times daily for around 5 days, while suppression regimens use fewer daily doses long-term. Start as early as possible in an outbreak (at the first tingle). Swallow with water, with or without food, and drink plenty of fluids. Complete the full course. Confirm the active ingredient with your pharmacist.

Maintain good hydration, especially in the elderly and with kidney impairment, where doses are adjusted. Generally well tolerated; headache and nausea can occur. Herpes remains transmissible even without symptoms. Avoid intimate contact during outbreaks. Seek medical advice for outbreaks near the eyes, severe or frequent recurrences, or use in pregnancy.
