Overview

Seroxat tablets contains Paroxetine 20 mg which is used in the treatment of depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, phobia and post traumatic stress disorder. It is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) antidepressant. It works by increasing the levels of serotonin, a chemical messenger in the brain. This improves mood and physical symptoms in depression and relieves symptoms of panic and obsessive disorders. It is a controlled drug in Kenya and a valid prescription from a registered doctor is required to obtain the prescribed doses.

Directions for Use

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Seroxat 20 mg Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

Seroxat 20 mg Tablet may cause excessive drowsiness and calmness with alcohol. It is highly unsafe to use during pregnancy and probably unsafe to use during lactation. It should also be used with caution in patients with kidney and liver disease. Dose adjustment may be needed. Please consult your doctor. Some common side effects include Nausea, Dryness in mouth, Weight gain, Erectile dysfunction, Stomach upset, Low sexual desire, Delayed ejaculation, Insomnia (difficulty in sleeping), Vomiting and Orthostatic hypotension (sudden lowering of blood pressure on standing).
