Overview

Relezin 4mg is a prescription muscle relaxant containing tizanidine 4mg. It is used to relieve muscle stiffness, tightness and painful spasms caused by musculoskeletal problems or by neurological conditions such as multiple sclerosis and spinal cord injury. Tizanidine acts on the central nervous system to calm the nerve signals that keep muscles tense, allowing them to relax and easing the related pain. The 4mg strength provides a higher single dose for patients who need stronger relief once treatment has been established by their doctor.

Directions for Use

This medicine requires a prescription. Use only as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. Take by mouth with a glass of water. Tizanidine is usually taken every 6-8 hours as needed, up to a maximum of 16mg per day (no more than three doses in 24 hours); your doctor sets the exact dose. Do not stop it suddenly after regular use - the dose must be tapered down. Do not switch between tablet and capsule forms or change timing with food without medical advice.

Do not use if you are allergic to tizanidine, have severe liver impairment, or are taking fluvoxamine or ciprofloxacin. It commonly causes drowsiness, dizziness, dry mouth and lowered blood pressure - do not drive or operate machinery until you know how it affects you, and avoid alcohol and other sedatives. Stopping suddenly can cause rebound high blood pressure and rapid heartbeat. Tell your doctor about heart, liver or kidney problems and all other medicines. Not for children or adolescents under 18.
