Symbicort Turbohaler 160/4.5 (60 doses) from AstraZeneca combines budesonide, an inhaled corticosteroid that reduces airway inflammation, with formoterol, a fast-acting, long-lasting bronchodilator that opens the airways. It is prescribed for the regular treatment of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), helping prevent breathlessness, wheezing and asthma attacks. In some patients, doctors prescribe Symbicort as both maintenance and reliever therapy. A cornerstone inhaler for people living with asthma or COPD who need dependable, long-term airway control.

Directions for Use

This is a prescription medicine. Use only as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. The usual maintenance dose is one to two inhalations once or twice daily, exactly as prescribed. Twist the red grip back and forth until it clicks, breathe out away from the inhaler, then inhale forcefully and deeply through the mouthpiece. Rinse your mouth with water and spit out after use to help prevent oral thrush. Use daily even when you feel well. It works by preventing symptoms. Not for immediate relief of a sudden severe asthma attack unless your doctor has specifically prescribed it as your reliever. Carry your reliever inhaler as advised. Rinse your mouth after each use to reduce the risk of oral thrush and hoarseness. Tell your doctor if you have heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, thyroid problems or low potassium. Do not stop using it suddenly. If you need your reliever more often than usual, see your doctor. Your asthma may be worsening. Store below 30°C with the cover screwed on.
