Overview

Eumovate Ointment 100g from GSK contains clobetasone butyrate 0.05%, a moderately potent topical corticosteroid used to treat and calm flare-ups of eczema, dermatitis and other inflammatory skin conditions, including atopic eczema and contact dermatitis. Stronger than over-the-counter hydrocortisone but milder than potent steroids, Eumovate effectively reduces redness, swelling and itching while the greasy ointment base also helps seal in moisture. Making it well suited to dry, scaly or thickened skin patches. The large 100g tube provides lasting value for families managing recurring eczema under medical guidance.

Directions for Use

This medicine should be used as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. Apply a thin layer to the affected area once or twice a day, rubbing in gently, until the flare-up is controlled. Then stop or step down as advised. Use the fingertip-unit guide: one fingertip of ointment treats an area twice the size of an adult hand. Do not use for more than 7 consecutive days without medical review. Wash hands after applying unless treating the hands.

Do not use on the face, broken skin, acne, rosacea or infected skin (including cold sores, chickenpox, ringworm or impetigo) unless a doctor advises. Not recommended for children under 12 without medical supervision. Prolonged or excessive use can thin the skin and cause stretch marks. Use the smallest amount for the shortest time needed. Avoid covering treated areas with airtight dressings unless instructed. Tell your doctor if pregnant or breastfeeding. Store below 30°C.
