Overview

Fucicort Cream 30g pairs fusidic acid 2%, a targeted antibiotic against Staphylococcus and Streptococcus, with betamethasone valerate 0.1%, a potent anti-inflammatory steroid. It is prescribed for eczema and dermatitis that have become infected. Where the skin is red, itchy, weeping or crusted. Treating the infection and the inflammation in one application. From LEO Pharma, Fucicort clears infected flare-ups quickly so longer-term skin care can take over, a dermatology staple for the infected eczema commonly seen in clinics.

Fusidic acid 2% w/w with betamethasone (as valerate) 0.1% w/w cream.

Directions for Use

This is a prescription medicine. Use only as directed by your doctor. Usually a thin layer applied to the affected area twice daily for up to 2 weeks. Wash hands after applying. Do not cover with airtight dressings unless instructed. Do not use on large areas, broken skin beyond the treated lesion, or as a general moisturiser. Return for review if there is no improvement within a week.

Contains a potent steroid. Prolonged or widespread use thins the skin and can cause stretch marks; never use on the face, groin or armpits except on specific medical advice, and never for skin lightening. Not for untreated purely fungal or viral skin infections (can worsen them). Limit courses to 2 weeks unless directed. Avoid in children except under medical supervision. Use in pregnancy and breastfeeding on medical advice. If applied to the breast, wash off before nursing. Store below 30°C.
